Privacy statement
Last updated: 14 September 2026
We ask as little of you as possible, and whatever we do ask, we explain here: which data, why, for how long, and who we share it with.
1. Who processes your data
Swan and the People is the data controller.

2. Which data we process, and why
An order
Name, address, email address, phone number and the details of your order. We need these to fulfil the agreement (article 6(1)(b) GDPR) and to meet our record-keeping obligations (point c). We do not process your payment details ourselves; those go straight to our payment provider.
The newsletter
Only your email address, plus the moment you signed up and confirmed. The legal basis is your consent (point a). We use a double opt-in: you are only added to the list after you click the link in the confirmation email. Every newsletter has an unsubscribe link at the bottom.
Customer service
Whatever you send us by email or WhatsApp is kept for as long as we need it to handle your question and to be able to look back if you get in touch again.
The size guide
The size guide works with two photos and your height. Those photos never leave your device. The analysis happens entirely in your own browser; nothing is uploaded, nothing is stored on our servers and nothing is shared. What remains is your calculated size, and only in your own browser’s storage. You can clear it with a single click.
We do not ask whether you are pregnant or how far along you are in order to record it; like the photos, that information stays on your own device.
The wishlist
Whatever you save is stored in your own browser. We do not store wishlists and we cannot see them.
The website itself
Our server records technical data needed to keep the site running and secure, such as your IP address and the time of a visit. We keep those log files only briefly.
3. Cookies
We place functional cookies that are needed to make the shop work: remembering your basket, saving your language choice and keeping you logged in during checkout. No consent is required for these.
If we also use cookies for statistics or advertising, we ask your permission in advance and you can change that choice at any time.
4. Who we share data with
We do not sell your data. We only share it with parties that help us fulfil your order, and we have a data processing agreement with each of them.
- Mollie B.V. — payments.
- PostNL and DHL — delivery of your parcel.
- Our hosting provider — storage and security of the website.
- Our email provider — order confirmations and the newsletter.
We also share data where the law requires us to, for example with the Dutch tax authorities.
5. How long we keep data
- Order and invoice data — seven years, as required by tax law.
- Newsletter subscription — until you unsubscribe.
- Customer service contact — up to two years after the last contact.
- Server logs — a few weeks.
6. Your rights
You may ask us which data we hold about you and have it corrected, completed or erased. You may object to the processing, ask for it to be restricted and request your data in a transferable file. If you have given consent, you may withdraw it at any time; that takes effect from the moment of withdrawal.
Send your request to ask@swanandthepeople.com. We respond within one month. If you disagree with how we handle your data, you can file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority via autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl.
7. Security
The website runs entirely over an encrypted connection. Access to order data is limited to the people who need it. If you suspect something is not right, please let us know straight away at ask@swanandthepeople.com.
8. Changes
Whenever we change something in this statement, we update the date at the top. In the event of a significant change, we let everyone who has signed up for the newsletter know.
