The beautiful factory we work with is in Portugal
It is nice to work with Portuguese people. They are reliable, think with you and after a long time of working together you become family. And they are incredibly hospitable.

Because it is a small factory you not only know the contact person, but also the people who are in the factory, from pattern makers and seamstresses, the people who do quality control, to logistics. I have been working with this small factory for years, they know who I am and how I work.

The factory in Portugal has existed for more than 30 years and also works for other Dutch brands. I think this is especially important for the pattern makers, they now know the shapes of the Dutch woman. The factory also works with several sustainable brands. I like this because it keeps us all on our toes and we can share the latest developments and so we can learn from each other.

I also try to go to the factory a few times a year. It creates a bond to see the seamstresses as they work on our product. I try to convey to the seamstresses my passion and love, for creating beautiful products. That way they also feel the Swan and The People vibe when they are working on our dress!

Innovative Method
I always tell them that speed, quantity and margins are secondary to quality for me. This is shifting for the seamstresses in the beginning! Because they have become accustomed to the mass and speed in which they have to work. For them it is also very nice to be able to work on a beautiful product, especially when they get the time to do so! Read more about time here.

Having intensive contact with the factory in Portugal allows me to convey my passion and love for the product.

Being in close contact with the factory allows me to properly convey my passion and love for the product.
